Live tracking

It moves when you move

Raw Wi-Fi signal wobbles by several dB even when a phone is lying on a table. Convert that straight to metres and the reading jumps between 4 m and 9 m while nothing is happening.

QuickIP averages in the dB domain — path loss is logarithmic, so averaging metres would bias the result toward the far readings — and only calls a change "movement" once it clears normal radio jitter. Standing still reads steady. Walking to another room registers within seconds.

Cell towers

How busy is that tower, honestly

No phone can count how many people are on a tower — carriers keep that inside their own network. Any app showing you a user count is inventing the number.

So QuickIP measures the thing that actually matters and can be measured: RSRQ compares the tower's reference signal against total power on the channel, and that total includes everyone else's traffic. A cell with strong signal but poor RSRQ isn't far away — it's crowded. That converts to a straight percentage of airtime in use.

Full bars, slow data? The app names that case directly, and home-broadband (HBB) routers use these same cells — so a loaded cell here explains a slow HBB line at the same address.
